Build a small dry kit
A light wind-resistant layer, spare top and dry socks are useful even on a trip planned around sunshine. Keep your phone, return ticket and valuables in a dry compartment. Carry enough drinking water for the first part of your day and refill when you can.
Ask before bringing surf equipment
If you are booking a lesson, check which board, wetsuit and changing facilities are included. Avoid carrying equipment you will not use. Experienced surfers travelling with their own board should confirm storage and transport arrangements with their accommodation before arrival.
Keep your day bag manageable
Separate clean clothes from wet items and leave valuable extras at your accommodation. Use footwear suitable for the route you actually intend to walk. A coastal path, a pavement and a sandy beach need different decisions; check access information rather than assuming every route is step-free.
Leave room for the unplanned
Take a book or a simple offline activity for a windy afternoon. A flexible weekend can combine beach time with a town visit, without treating every weather change as a setback. Check departure information again on your final day and pack your dry travelling clothes separately.
